A Personal Tribute

To My Father, Andre Marcel Frere

July 21, 1946 — September 10, 2026

“Some people shape the course of our lives. Others become the foundation upon which our lives are built. My father was both.”

To My Dad

There are people who come into our lives and change them. And then there are those whose love, presence, and example become so deeply woven into who we are that we cannot imagine ourselves without them.

For me, that person was my father.

For 49 years, I had the extraordinary privilege of calling Andre Marcel Frere my dad. He was my teacher, my greatest supporter, my steady foundation, and one of my dearest friends.

Through every chapter of my life, the wonderful moments and the most difficult ones, he was there. His love never depended on my accomplishments, my circumstances, or the mistakes I made along the way. It was simply there, unwavering and unconditional.

My father taught me so much, often without realizing he was teaching me anything at all. Through the way he lived, worked, loved, and treated others, he showed me what truly matters.

When I look back, I realize that the greatest gift he gave me wasn't found in any single moment. It was the accumulation of a lifetime of moments together. The adventures, conversations, laughter, lessons, and quiet reassurance of knowing that, whatever happened, Dad would always be there.

His passing has left an emptiness that words cannot describe. But his influence remains in everything I do, the values I carry, and the love I strive to give my own children.

I will spend the rest of my life grateful that I was his son.

I love you, Dad. Thank you for everything.

Forever your son,

Brandon
